are double unders seminarable? that's definitely something I feel like I'm never going to be able to do.
handstand pushups?
butterfly pullups?
bar muscle ups?

not sure how seminar friendly any of those are, but they're certainly all skills that could use some specific attention for me.

That quote is great, reminds me of guys i saw playing football that looked the part but couldn't ball.

I would definitely be interested in a snatch, possibly a clean seminar. I would also love to get mobility classes again. Clayton was running them after class on Friday nights for a little while. Could use pointers on pullups and double unders as well.

snatch is definitely a good one. & mobility is something I neglect for sure.

Folks, I can promise you this....A snatch and Clean & Jerk clinic is on the horizan.

@ mooney- we can incorperate the Butterfly and B.MU's into another kipping seminar- "Advanced Kipping"

@ Cindy, love the mobility!

Keep working hard Apex! Loving the intensity, gain and PR's!

@ Pete- back in my skateboarding days, we called them "Posers"
however, I do love my gear!

Definitely be in on the "advanced Kipping" and the snatch, clean & jerk seminars. I would love to have the butterfly PU's!

Bus- There is nothing wring with gearing up as long as you are able to get the job done....I am sure you dominated the skate board scene while being all geared up.

As far as seminars I think that snatch, clean&jerk, and DUs seminars would be great as I struggle with all of these moves.

Double under seminar would be great! Also the advanced kipping would be cool too. Even if it meant just getting me better and KPU. Mobility is always good too. I would be in on the Snatch and C&J as well.

How about a rope climbing seminar? I have yet to hit it in a WOD and use it to help with Spartan races. I don't if that could be incorporated anywhere.

WOD
3 rds + 400M 35# KB (did 5 KPU the first round and 12 JPU the second two rounds) I originally told Clayton 2 rds + 400M then realized what I done with the pullups was three rounds.

Felt good to be back after being away for over a week. But definitely struggled more than I should have.

I agree on all of the above seminar suggestions. I think just about everyone could use some pointers and refinement on their technique regardless of experience level. I know it would be a bigger commitment on the trainers' behalf, but maybe even having a seminar a month in conjunction with open gym on various skills would be good; both basic and advanced.

I really enjoyed and got a great deal out of Steve's rowing class this past Sunday. His breaking the rowing technique down into its basic parts really made me focus on how much overlap there was in the skills he was teaching to my other crossfit techniques and bad habits. While I appreciate the practice of fundamentals in warmups, sometimes when the clock starts ticking you go right back to ripping the way you always did. Perhaps a longer session to focus on one facet would allow for more muscle memory to develop.

While I don't always enjoy having my last name shouted in the middle of a workout, I really appreciate the time taken and "eyes in the back of the head" focus on technique, form, and safety that all of the trainers have. It has definitely improved my abilities and made me a better me, so thank you!

Would love the mobility. As always pullups are the thorn in my side. Now that I have officially achieved them, they are strict. I just can't get the kip incorporated. Even a "Kipping For Dummies" might be good

That reminds me of.....me. My brand new Reebok Oly's and I was struggling with 45# squat snatch complex the other day.

A running seminar!! So I can stop running like such a meathead/Mack truck!!

Kevin Mooney said...

running is a great call! people don't always realize how much they can actually learn & improve on that.

4 Rounds + 400 and 15 KBS @44#
First time bumping up to 44# from 35# on the KBS.

May be too general but I would love a day specifically breaking down all the Oly lifting movements, as they are my weak spot.

I also like to "look the part," but always try to make sure my equipment matches my skill level.

I would like any seminar to help with form. I agree with Weierbach. .. it tends to go to crap during a WOD. I have enjoyed coming in during open gym to focus on one particular skill. That focus has helped me improve and gain confidence in those specific skills. :)

4 rounds plus 150 meters

35# kb

Never broke on swings and only broke pull ups once each round.

Bekah Bus said...

3 Rds + 400m + 21 swings and 1 pullup
26# kb
Runs beat me up!

I am in for a double under and advance kip / butterfly seminars!

CrossFit seminar ideas: DUs, Olympic lifts, Handstand push-ups, Walking on hands, butterfly pull-ups.

4 rds + 200 meters 26 lb KB. As for the quote, I love it! Today I was wearing my favorite Adidas from 2008:)

4rds + 200 + 29
26# KB and Scaled the run 200m. Used bands for pullups for the first time in a wod. Loved and hated it at the same time. The running for the warm up killed me. Apparently, I need a running seminar too or different legs!

Got a pullup bar installed in my garage now so new 6 month goal is 1 unassisted pull up!
