Just an awesome day! Had alot of fun today. Fastest 500m I ever rowed and Pr'd on the power clean. Almost didn't sign up for the rumble, but glad I did. Can't wait for the next one! Good job everybody!
I 100% agree wth John. Great day. So glad I did this.
Sure looked like a scarecrow after that one.
Yesterday was a good learning experience because I gained a better understanding where my weaknesses are.
Turkey Legs hurt me score-wise. I know I definitely could have lunged much more weight but just couldn't get under my cleans. Up to 95#, I was able to just muscle them, but when I needed good technique, I just couldn't move up in weight.
Can there be a clean seminar sometime soon?
Yesterday was great! Set PRs for my 500m row and for my clean which landed me a 150# lung score. Turkey Legs and Plymouth Rock were my favorites.
I want to give a shout out to Julia and Shanna. I was dreading the deadlufts in WOD 3. They gave me a lot of technique and mobility advice that really helped me with the DL's. Yesterday was the furst time in weeks (mos maybe) where deadkist did not crush me.
Great work by everyone including the 35+ Men. Looking firward to the next Rumble!
I would like to just add my comments about yesterday as well. It was such an AWESOME DAY!!! I had no idea what to expect. And it was better than I could have imagined!! It was awesome to be amongst such a great group of people. I am glad that I made the decision to do this and can't wait for the next event!
After WOD 3 The Great Pumpkin, I didn't think I would be able to walk!! Those squats and overhead lungs with the Pumpkin had my legs completely jelloed!! But that was just an example of feeding off the energy and support of everyone else!! I saw lots of determination and fight from a lot people. GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!
Some highlights for me:
-seeing my coaches kick ass & getting to cheer them on like they always do for me
-the push I got from all my judges was incredible. I lot were flat out coaching me through. Erica & Brian especially.
-PR'd my clean & never messed with those stones before.
-Chris H staying with me through the entire 5th WOD even tho he wasn't even my judge.
-getting to judge Sharon slaying WOD 5.
Everyone did so awesome it was so great to be around. Those were just a few things that stood out to me.
Really enjoyed myself yesterday! Can't say enough about the atmosphere, programming, competition and overall experience of the Harvest Rumble.
I think we should all feel very thankful for the leadership of Apex, who it's clear worked tirelessly to make Saturday everything it was.
The guts and grit and good nature of Apex athletes is a reflection of the coaches we represent and from what I saw yesterday, those coaches should be very proud.
My buddy at work is the Health & Wellness Director at the Ambler Y, overseeing a pretty advanced Fitness Center . Also, a certified PT and avid weight lifter he has, at times, been a pretty big skeptic of Crossfit and its community.
He's the guy who thinks its funny to show you a Youtube video of epic Crossfit lifting fails, thinking that crap happens at all affiliates.
I have discussed this at length with him, explaining that, in my humble opinion, we as "Apexer's" were the benefit of some pretty awesome coaching and that technique and good form was held in very high regard.
Anyway, I convinced this fella to come check out the comp yesterday and he was able to witness four of the five WODs. He was really impressed with the competition, and kept commenting about how strong everyone's "form" looked.
As a coach, this really hits home. What a compliment to those who train us.
Much respect to Tanya, Josh, Keith and all the other Apex coaches who continue to build athletes and a program with great "form."
Nice work Apex, can't wait till the Winter Combine
Even though I didn't participate, (that would not have been pretty), I thought the Rumble was a great event.
Kudos to Keith, Josh, and Tanya for all the work (and creativity) they put into making it such a fun and inspiring day. Also to all those who exemplified the Apex spirit - encouraging all the competitors, no matter if they were the first to finish or the last; congratulating everyone who gave every ounce of his or her strength during those wild WODs, and the family members and friends who were there to show their pride and support in their athletes.
It feels really good to be a part of the Apex family.
Gotta say I agree with everyone's comments here. I'm very grateful for the Wagners, Keith and all the other coaches. I've spoken to others who have gone to other boxes and then have come to Apex and their first comment is how great the Apex coaches are.
Kudo's coaches, and thanks for all your hard work in setting up and running a great Rumble!
It was a fabulous day! Much thanks to Tanya, Josh and Keith for awesome programming and running a great event. There were definitely a lot of firsts for me yesterday. There were also a lot of fun and moments that I will never forget. Kudos to Josh for pushing me with my clean for the front lunge! Great day and night all around! Looking forward to next year!
