Murph! 03/07/2009
(only half Murph for me!)
First Wod: 3/17/11 10 rds: 10 pull-ups 10 box jumps. I shot out of the cannon and was exhausted by round 3 (scaled to jumping pull-ups and a 16 inch box). Never forget that moment when I realized "this ain't gym class!"
15 minute AMRAP of deadlifts, 100m sprint and wallballs. Made the noob mistake of saying "only 15 minutes?" Went home a pile of mush.
All I remember is some gym teacher and computer teacher begging me to come down to the ICU and try a "Crossfit" workout. He kept insisting that I would like it and maybe even look like the guys from 300. I thought and thought(it was tough to give up a day of Bi's and Tri's at Genesis) but finally gave it a try.....well, I didn't make it out of the warm-up.
Warm-up- 8 sets of Tabata run on the treadmill at 8mph with a steep incline. I may have made it to the 4th round? Then was in search of a puke bucket. I was hooked after that.....6 years or so later, still not a fan of tabata timing and still searching for just 1 ab!
My first workout is all a blur but Wod 2 was Circus Clowns and it was terrible! With all the spins I got motion sick, probably looked like a drunk driver on the way home and had to take 2 hrs. to recover. I wasn't sure if I was going to come back but I did and that's history. I will never do Circus Clowns again and I will always ask for a substitute for crazy spin moves, lol!
I had to dig back into the archive to figure out what my first WOD was, and I think I found it: Knuckle Shuffle on 6/27/12. There is a rather large question mark next to my name on the board and that pretty much sums up how I was feeling after the WOD. Who signed me up for this? I was lost when I first walked in and everyone was warming up and stretching. I remember thinking that I could just turn around and leave without anyone noticing. Then Keith greeted me, introduced me to a few people and at that point, leaving wasn't going to happen. I hated the run, but the rest of the WOD I tolerated. Never thought I'd hang in for so long, but here I am!
My first WOD was back on 10/4/2011
and it was "Lumber Jack 20".
The last thing I remember was Kutty telling me I picked a great one to start with and I'll see you in 30 minutes.
I wasn't able to walk properly the next day but I was hooked because I had never experienced a full body beating like that.
I am very grateful that Apex moved in next my office. Now I am able to play with daughters without getting winded and wanting to sit down after 5 minutes.

My first WOD was 9/11/12 "Never Forget". It was a 20 min AMRAP of Front Rack Lunges, Hang Power Cleans and Box Jumps. For as much as I dislike >12 min AMRAPs now, I tolerated that first WOD pretty well and was immediately hooked.
This is definitely on my list of redo's for a trip to Open Gym.
Off topic but....I dare you to watch this and NOT get choked up...go ahead....I dare you..http://media.crossfit.com/community/video/HD/CFJ_ToKnowAHero_Gary5.mp4
1st WOD was those damn 100 squat cleans a couple of months ago. I walked like I was wearing flippers for 2 days. maybe 3.
I definitely remember my first WOD. Not all the specifics, but certainly how I felt. I know that it started with a row, and we had to cover a decent distance in a short time or we had to do 30 burpees. I missed the mark by a few seconds, and I dumped my gas tank so hard trying to make it that I had nothing for the burpees. I remember Chris G telling me to just lay down and stand up just to get through them, and it was still excruciating.
There was supposed to be an AMRAP workout after that but I never got there.
Ah, found it. 10/19/12, Octoberfest #1.
1300m row
then
3 rounds of:
15 hang pwr cln 135/95
30 sit ups
then
max rds of cindy
5 pull ups
10 push ups
15 air squats
in remaining 20 minutes
*score only total rounds of cindy
*everyone will start from the rower in heats of 7. The next heat starts every 5 minutes.
You have 5 minutes to complete the row. If you fail to complete the 1300m row in 5 minutes, you must complete 25 burpees prior to starting the 3 round couplet.
Oof.

Oh dear it's a long time since 4:30 a.m. this morning. Great job 6 a.m.-ers...My first wod was about 5 years ago this week I think actually! I could hardly sleep with the anticipation that this might be something I'd really love. Can you imagine 3 on 2's with Keith, Josh, and Tanya, and maybe one other athlete? That was the beginning...Missy remembers! We did jumping weighted lunges, I thought, this is crazy, but I loved it! And...I remember Feliciani!
Games Class:

2. 8:12 Rx - 1:34 improvement from last time in November.

I remember my first wod it was the grand opening of the old place in Telford. It was a 10 minute AMRAP of 70m sprint, 7 box jumps, 7 wall balls, 7 deadlifts and 7 pull ups. I did jumping pull ups with a 35# KB deadlift and air squats instead of wall balls. I was destroyed and my lungs were burning for about 2 hours, but I was hooked from then on.
My first WOD was just last week. It was Cliff Hanger 10- Wall balls and 1-10 lunges. My thoughts afterward was, "Yep....I'm in the right place!"
Today's WOD - 19:00 65# DL 15# DB jumping pull ups...this one kicked my butt!
