Eight swimmers made it out to the ninth week of CrossFit Apex summer Swim WODs this morning.
Motivated by watching an awesome open water swimming event on Long Beach Island yesterday, I used today's WOD to test these athlete's endurance in the water.
We began today's class with a 10-lap "snake," which included some gutter press outs at each end; worked on different types of sculling and completed some stroke lengthening drills in the hopes of improving efficiency.
Then we moved on to today's WOD, a simple 30-minute AMLAP.
While most of the 2016 summer has been spent working one-lap drills and short intense swims there's also value in a nice long effort in the pool. I hope today's crew enjoyed it.
Just for frame of reference. 1 mile = 1760 yards (70 laps)

Results:
BDDave G.—900 yards (36 laps)
Frank H.—475 yards (19 laps)
Brandon L.—1500 yards (60 laps)
Jaime M.—1575 yards (63 laps)
Ann Marie H.—650 yards (26 laps)
Chas H.—1500 yards (60 laps)
Mel S.—650 yards (26 laps)
Matt L. 1700 yards (68 laps)
