12 rounds - Rx
Spartan Beast wrap up from Killington, VT on Saturday - This was by far the hardest event that I have ever done! The course going up and down Killington Mountain in Vermont was difficult and down right dangerous at points. The obstacles were difficult and experienced some pretty cool new obstacles that I haven't seen before. Completed the 13 mile course in 8 hrs 20 mins. Looking at my per mile time. I did this course in a faster per mile pace than I did the shorter Super Spartan last year (I didn't do the Beast last year). So I am pretty happy with that. I also felt pretty strong through most of this race. One of the greatest moments of this race was on one of our many hikes up the mountain and getting to the top of the mountain. The view from the top of this mountain was breathtaking, beautiful, and amazing! Kevin and I did the last two hours of this race in dark. So that definitely affected our times because you had to much more careful on the terrain even with our head lamps. If we could have done this whole race in the daylight my time probably would have been under 8 hours. All in all it was a great experience and something that I would not have been able to complete without the work we do at Apex!! The mental toughness, physical conditioning, and lung capacity are all things that helped me get through this race. THANK YOU AGAIN TO THE COACHES AND ALL OF THE BROTHERS AND SISTERS AT APEX!! YOU ARE ALL THE BEST!!
Good job Frank and Kevin on the beast. I'm still waiting for my official time, but by far the beast was one of the hardest things I've ever done. The heavy rainfall until start time on Sunday affected us greatly. The entire course was so slippery and the mud was everywhere. The temperature dropped significantly between Saturday and Sunday. I've never been that cold in my life. The water temperature was 36 degrees when we had to swim to the bridge! Our team fought through alot of injuries including myself from falling down the slippery slopes. But crossing that finish line was one of the best feelings. I agree with Frank. Without crossfit and Apex, it would be unimaginable for me to even attempt the beast let alone complete it. Thanks to all the great coaches we have at Apex for their great jobs!
Wow, it has been great to hear your stories of the triple feat through the summer. This sounds like it was the most challenging of the three by far. Anyway congratulations, it sounds like it was fantastic! Inspiring!

Great testimonial and stories Frank and Jon. That sounds like Fun...especially to a CrossFitter. Others might think differently:)
Congrats on completing the Spartan Beast!!
Good luck on Cindy today everyone. A great bench mark workout to record. Don't miss it. Top scores are close to 30rds +. Above 20rds is even insane.
This was one of my first CrossFit workouts before Apex even existed. Tanya and I took this on at CrossFit Ocean City Md back in 2008. I think I was around 18 rds and I had to go head to head with CF OCMD's top dog from their gym. By the way that guy was also in his 40's while I was in my mid 20's. Needless to say he beat me at around 19rds.
The last time I completed Cindy I was 26 and change. My best is 30rds +extra reps. Here are some scores to shoot for. Come and get it.

Great job Jon gutting that race out! We were thinking about when it was raining Saturday night. We new it would only make that course even more dangerous. Glad to hear you made it through. And you are absolutely right, finally reaching that finish line was just amazing!

Did the WOD at work, which was a nice change of pace.
No loud music and nobody to use as motivation. Nothing but the sound of my breath and the watchful eyes of a few septuagenarian YMCA members.
Racked up 20 rounds +19 reps.
I just googled septuagenarian
